For dog lovers, far and wide, this book has it all.  It focuses primarily on the rescuing of a very special Golden Retriever, Nicki, from an abusive home.  Through her devotion to Golden Heart, a rescue service, Amy Redwing becomes involved with the terroristic home of housewife and mother, Janet Brockman.  In this enthralling story of abuse and neglect, Amy develops a supernatural connection to Nicki, and uses this relationship to discover important facts related to this twisted mystery.  As the story unfolds in two separate timelines, Amy and her boyfriend, Brian, realize this furry friend was sent to them from the past.  Crisis unfolds when they reunite with two individuals, who are now lovers, attempting to eliminate them after reappearing in their lives.  In all the confusion, a heartwarming plot of love and devotion is revealed, which solves the issues left at bay many years earlier.  Dean Koontz takes us in a new direction with this story of soul bearing through multiple lives.  He digs deep into the minds of his characters to reveal an intriguing plot of suspense that will surely be a hit.
